Logo Assignment

For my logo assignment, I used a lemon wedge to be my principle design. After composing 10 possible compositions in which to use my logo, I narrowed it down to three layouts: scale, repetition, and radiation. The first was a "smiley face" made from the lemons, the second was a pattern of many small lemon wedges, and the third was the wedges revolved in a circular formation. In the end, I chose the second choice, repetition.

I first drew out a colored pencil version of an orange. Then, after scanning the image, I changed the colors in Photoshop to make copies that looked like a lemon and a lime. After scanning and changing the colors, I began to rearrange the lemons, limes, and oranges into a pattern. I think the result was successful, and I could easily see the design used on textiles, especially as a shower curtain! I could also see the pattern on bags, t-shirts, CD covers, or posters. On first glance, I think the fruit looks a lot like candy, so that could work for an advertising campaign for a company like Lifesavers.
